If you’re looking for talented local artists to perform at your private events, or just to enjoy some beautiful music, look no further than Paul Kamm and Eleanore MacDonald. This folk duo from Nevada City, CA has been performing together for over 30 years, and their music is a beautiful blend of contemporary and traditional styles.

Their exquisite harmonies, compelling songwriting, and intricate guitar work have earned them accolades such as the Kerrville, Telluride, and Rocky Mountain New Folk awards. But beyond the awards, it’s their quiet, patient approach to music that sets them apart.

Their songs touch on a wide range of topics, from love and politics to war and peace, and their music brings history and today to life with a powerful mix of inclusion and compassion. Whether they’re performing on a big stage or in an intimate setting, their personal and unguarded voice is always on display, draped in stark and ethereal harmonies that are as welcoming as the warmth of a fire.

Since 1987, Paul and Eleanore have independently produced nine albums of original music, and their work has received critical acclaim from reviewers worldwide. Their music has been played on NPR, community, college, and public radio stations around the world, as well as on internet and satellite radio. They’ve been featured in Sing Out! Magazine, Air America, Democracy Now!, and even had their song “Josephine” used in a multimedia event commemorating the events of 9/11.

Their newest album, “From the Fire,” features the work of guest artists Joe Craven, Nina Gerber, Bill Douglass, and Tom Menig, and it charted #45 out of 265 CDs on Richard Gillman’s “most played of 2010” list based on playlists submitted by Folk DJs worldwide. Their song “Ship Gonna Sail,” co-written with the late Utah Phillips, has been featured in Sing Out! and will be featured in “Labor Notes” in April 2011.

A concert with Paul and Eleanore is truly a night to remember. Their depth and beauty of lyrical and harmonic mastery is filled with color, their songwriting is stimulating, inspirational, and magical, and their powerful lyrical imagery and haunting harmony always honors their folk roots.
